Why the name Wessex?

Wessex was a Kingdom in Southern England, from the 6th century until the invasion by the Normans from France in 1066. Its capital was in the City of Winchester, Hampshire only 14 miles from where we live. I have always been interested in English history and the fact that the road where we live is also called ‘Wessex Gardens’ made me decide to call my new business Wessex Tubas.

The dragon on the bell of Wessex instruments is called the Wyvern and comes from the flag of the ancient kingdom.
